One of the biggest events of the year, quite literally, is set to kick off this weekend. A dream matchup of top heavyweights in boxing and MMA is set to go down in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday night when WBC and lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury squares off with former UFC and lineal heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. The two will meet inside the boxing ring as the latest in the crossover genre.

Your mileage will vary on crossover fights, but there is no denying the spectacle of Fury vs. Ngannou. The fight -- dubbed "Rumble in Riyadh" -- features two of the best heavyweights of their time in their respective sports. The painfully overdue Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight has damaged Fury's brand, but the former unified heavyweight boxing champ is a generational talent.

Boxing and MMA collide in the ultimate match taking place Oct. 28.

Fury reigns as WBC heavyweight champion, while Ngannou will be making his boxing debut and fighting for the first time since leaving the UFC.

The Cameroonian retained the UFC heavyweight title last year before ultimately giving up the gold in January and joining the Professional Fighters League this spring. Ngannou, 37, will make his promotional debut with the MMA company in 2024, but first, he crosses into boxing to face Fury.

The Briton, 35, is unbeaten and on course for an undisputed-title fight with Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia, if he can avoid a shock defeat by the heavy-handed Ngannou in Riyadh.

The WBC champion and the MMA star have been going back and forth with one another on social media for the best part of two years.

Fury and Ngannou will now take to the ring to end their long-standing online feud.

A shock showdown between the pair was mooted after Ngannou entered the ring and faced off with Fury following the Gypsy King's knockout win against Dillian Whyte at Wembley back over a year ago.

The fight went cold as Ngannou was still contracted to UFC and MMA mogul Dana White refused to entertain the bout.

Perhaps the tastiest fight on the undercard is between Davie Adeleye and Fabio Wardley.

The pair came to blows at the Fury vs Ngannou press conference last month and Wardley was left bloodied.

Tyson Fury's next fight against ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou is set to take place this weekend in a mega-money showdown in the Middle East. The 'Gypsy King' will make his return for the first time since beating Derek Chisora at the back end of last year, after talks broke down for an undisputed title fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

His rival, Ngannou, will make his first appearance in the boxing ring after terminating his contract with the UFC in pursuit of lucrative opportunities outside the promotion. 'The Predator' has shown off huge punching power throughout his career in the cage, and he believes it will translate to the squared circle despite the verdict being he will go into the contest as overwhelming underdog.

Fury's heavyweight clash with Ngannou is set to take place this Saturday, October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as the region continue to invest in their growth of combat sports. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Anthony Joshua have all brought competition over to the Middle East, and it will continue with the two heavyweights set for their maiden appearance there.

Both men are expected to pocket a tidy purse of over £50 million each, with the fight backed to bring in a huge audience given their sizeable profiles in two different sports coming together. Ngannou has everything to gain from the event with a stunning win likely to see him consider a longer term future in the sport, but he will need to improve if his training footage is anything to go by.

Tyson Fury will finally return to the ring this weekend when he faces former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in a historic crossover bout in Saudi Arabia.

The Gypsy King has teased a showdown with the MMA legend since the boxing world heavyweight champion knocked out Dillian Whyte to retain his WBC belt in April 2022.

The clash has drawn a fair amount of criticism from fans who wanted Fury to take on Oleksandr Usyk.

However, negotiations for that fight broke down as did a potential Battle of Britain meeting with heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua.

Fury will instead square off with former UFC heavyweight superstar Ngannou under professional boxing rules in a bout being billed as the 'Battle Of The Baddest'.

Ngannou was the UFC Heavyweight Champion throughout 2021 and 2022, but vacated the title after contract talks collapsed with officials. He is now aiming to carve out a professional boxing career.

One of the most powerful men in MMA meets the heavyweight boxing king in Saudi Arabia when Francis Nagnnou will attempt to beat Tyson Fury in a special heavyweight bout from Boulevard Hall in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ngannou rocked the mixed martial arts world at the beginning of the year after splitting from UFC despite being the promotion's heavyweight titleholder. It's impossible to ask Ngannou to bridge the technical gap against Fury (33-0-1) in his boxing debut, but there is arguably no MMA fighter with a puncher's chance more powerful than Ngannou.

Ngannou will also have an all-timer in his corner with Mike Tyson serving as his trainer. But more information about his involvement came out this week as the Saudi Arabian investors are paying the former heavyweight champion to be involved and he's more of a figurehead than anything. Regardless, Ngannou is trying to soak up any knowledge Tyson is willing to dispense ahead of his debut.
